Scenes and Playings
“Scenes and Playings” is a historical documentary photography project that narrates the history of a location through words and images. It focuses on historically documented public scenes and captures their present-day counterparts, all from a street photography perspective. The atmosphere reflects how people experience these places today and how they appeared in the past.
The biography of a location is narrated in parallel through literature, archival photographs, and newly captured images by me. Its history is interpreted using historical sources, while the process of mirroring old and new photographs from a street photography perspective reflects the evolution of people’s lives, lifestyles, and the transformation of places.
This project begins with the city of Strasbourg, one of the world’s historically significant cities, shaped by its complex past and strategic geographical position.
As the project is still in its early stages—currently focused on research and primary photography—showcases will be presented in the future.
I warmly invite sponsors to support this documentary photography project. Their contributions will help expand its scope and enrich the diversity of the cities explored.
I also welcome collaboration opportunities. If you need a reportage-style documentary project for a specific location, don’t hesitate to reach out.
